What elements do we need to include in our Local Place Plan?

Registration of your Local Place Plan with the Local Council Planning Department will ensure that it is placed on a public register and become a material consideration (i.e. something that carries weight in the decision-making process) in decision making for development and regulation of land and building in your area.

Successful registration can also mean that proposals in your LPP will be formally assessed for their suitability to be included in any emerging Local Development Plan in your area.

To be registered, your plan needs to go through what’s known as a validation process. This ensures that you have submitted all the all the formal information the planning department will require to properly assess your LPP.

Remember, the validation process is not punitive or pass/fail.

If elements required are not present the planning department will write to you and explain what they need. You can also contact the planning department in the weeks before you submit to double check that you are on track to meet their needs with what you have prepared.
